FROM its humble beginnings as a clinic in a double-storey shophouse in Muntri Street, Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH) has become a beacon of private healthcare with thousands of patients from within and outside the country.

The Penang government lists the hospital, which recently turned 100, as an anchor in the state’s determination to become a world-class medical tourism hub.

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, who was the guest of honour, congratulated PAH on winning the Global Health Asia-Pacific Healthcare and Hospital Awards for the second consecutive year.

He also pointed out that the hospital was fast cementing Penang’s status as one of the leading providers of medical services in the region.

“Such honours reflect your relentless pursuit of outstanding medical care and your deep commitment to serving the community, a legacy that has been nurtured for over a century. It is my sincere hope that PAH will continue this noble mission for many more years to come, serving as a beacon of hope and excellence in Penang’s medical care,” Wong said at the launching of PAH’s 100th anniversary commemorative stamp collection.

In attendance were Pulau Tikus assemblyman Joshua Woo, PAH chief executive officer Albin Phua, PAH group president Ronald Koh, PAH marketing director Caleb Lim, Pos Laju state manager Mohd Sukri Ramli and Pos Laju Pulau Tikus branch manager Muhmad Ali Akbar.

Joshua told journalists later that the stamps encapsulated heritage, preserving moments and milestones for future generations.

The stamp collection is only available at the PAH Bakery. – August 13, 2024.
