CHIEF Secretary to the Government, Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, has announced several changes in placements and new appointments for senior management posts within the civil service, according to Bernama.
Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM), will be transferred to the same role at the Ministry of Defence, replacing Datuk Seri Isham Ishak. Isham will, in turn, take over Lokman’s position at the KPKM.
These transfers will come into effect on 23 September.
In a statement, Shamsul Azri said the changes in placements and new appointments are being implemented in line with the government's public service reforms. These reforms demand speed, agility, and dynamism in the top leadership of the public sector to meet the challenges of a new era. This follows the announcement of the salary adjustment for civil servants by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on August 16.
Datuk Seri Suriani Ahmad, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Kuskop), will be transferred to the Ministry of Health on Thursday to assume the same position. Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud, the Secretary-General of the Human Resources Ministry (KSM), will replace Suriani at Kuskop.
Datuk Azman Mohd Yusoff, the Secretary-General of the National Unity Ministry, will take up the post at KSM, while his position will be filled by Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, the current Secretary-General of the Works Ministry.

According to Bernama, the reshuffle also involves Datuk Seri Azman Ibrahim, the Director-General of the Implementation Coordination Unit at the Prime Minister's Department (JPM), who has been appointed as the new Secretary-General of the Works Ministry.
The new Secretary-General of the Home Ministry is Datuk Awang Alik Jeman, who was previously the senior deputy secretary-general at the JPM. His former post will be filled by Datuk Abd Shukor Mahmood.
Additionally, Muhammad Razman Abu Samah has been appointed as the Director-General of the Public-Private Partnership Unit, a position previously held by the chief secretary to the government.
Shamsul said these changes in placements and new appointments, all of which take effect on Thursday, reflect the synergy and collaboration between agencies. They also embody the principle of loyalty, prioritising allegiance to the King and country in realising the aspirations of the Madani government. – September 4, 2024.
