THE Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya had delivered consignments of food supplies under the Madani Government programme to very remote villagers living at the Sarawak border with Kalimantan.
The first consignment from the PM Office was delivered by Sarawak PKR Senator Abun Sui Anyit to three villages called Long Tanyit, Long Kajang and Long Abit.
These three villages with several hundred natives each are located in the mountains of the Sarawak-Kalimantan boundary.
Abun delivered these food supplies of rice, flour, noodles, canned food and other necessities using convoys of four-wheel vehicles recently.
"I handed over the Madani supplies to the villagers via their representatives during my visit to Long Kajang, Long Abit and Long Tanyit.
"The Madani programme is part of the PM Office initiative to reach out to all the rakyat.
"Even those in the deepest parts of Sarawak are not forgotten," he told reporters here.
Abun is also Sarawak Pakatan Harapan's information chief.
He said the food aid programme will continue in the months to come.
Efforts will be made to deliver these food supplies to as many remote settlements as possible.
Long Tanyit, Long Kajang and Long Abit are located up to 12 hours away by rugged timber road from the nearest town of Belaga.
This reporter had visited these very remote interiors during food aid supplies delivery in the past.
The journey via the timber roads is very dangerous as these mud roads are in horrendous conditions. - September 26, 2024
