A total of 15 areas nationwide records unhealthy air quality today - September 11, 2026

SARAWAK bore the brunt of Malaysia’s worsening haze today, accounting for 11 of the 15 areas nationwide recording unhealthy air quality, with Serian registering the country’s highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 195 as of 8am.

Checks on the Department of Environment’s (DOE) Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal showed Kuching recording the second-highest API reading at 180, followed by Samarahan at 179 and Sri Aman at 171.

Other Sarawak areas in the unhealthy category were Sarikei at 164, Samalaju (161), Sibu (157), Mukah (155), Bintulu (152), Miri (147) and ILP Miri (117).

The haze also affected Sabah, with Kota Kinabalu recording an unhealthy API reading of 150 and Labuan 133.

In the peninsula, Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur recorded 127, while Pasir Gudang in Johor registered 116.

Meanwhile, 48 monitoring stations nationwide recorded moderate air quality. - September 11, 2026
