THREE people were killed and three others seriously injured in an accident involving seven vehicles, including two trailers this morning.
Mohd Ridzuan Zulkafly, 40, Muhamad Zaimi Shariff, 39, and Muhammad Azizul Fitrie Md Zaire, 23, were killed in the 4.13 am incident at KM42 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak highway near Bukit Tinggi, Bentong.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said eight firemen were deployed to the scene.
"Upon arriving at the scene, we found that the accident involved four cars, a three-tonne lorry and two trailers. One of the trailers was destroyed in a fire.
"Those killed were two people from the three-tonne lorry and another person in a car, while three others were badly injured, two sustained light injuries and five escaped unhurt," he said.
Reports said a trailer transporting concrete beams from Kuala Lumpur to Bentong is believed to have lost control before crashing into the three-tonne lorry travelling in the same direction.
The trailer is believed to have then hit the divider before the concrete debris was strewn on the opposite lane, towards Kuala Lumpur causing vehicles travelling towards Kuala Lumpur to crash into the concrete beams. - September 30, 2024
