A FORMER PKR youth leader lambasted Umno Supreme Council Member Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed for his recent remarks where he said PKR and Amanah are unfit to sit at the political poker table with Umno and DAP.

Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman, a former PKR youth wing deputy chief, said the Umno Johor deputy chief should not be a “parasite” within the unity government, stirring unnecessary tension.

“Nur Jazlan’s statement alleging that PKR and Amanah do not deserve to be at the ‘political poker table’ is superficial, weak and stupid.

“A leader of Nur Jazlan’s calibre, who is amongst the top leaders at the government component, should not be issuing such divisive statements.

“His actions are likened to a ‘parasite’ that seeks to destroy the cooperation of the unity government,” Syed Badli said.

Earlier, Nur Jazlan, who is the senate deputy president, said Umno and DAP were the pilots in the unity government whereas PKR and Amanah were just passengers.

The former deputy home minister added that PKR and Amanah should not make demands as if they held more authority than they do.

He said the two Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties made demands for more seats and positions as if they were dominant parties.

Taking a swipe, Syed Badli said he was surprised that such a statement came from a senate deputy president, alleging that it reflects Nur Jazlan’s gambling attitude.

“Is this the level of professionalism shown by Nur Jazlan?

“He should have issued a more positive statement calling for the strengthening of the unity government due to the blossoming relationship of PH and Umno,” he said.

Syed Badli called on Umno to take stern action against Nur Jazlan, claiming that such statements should not be allowed to hinder the strengthening agenda of the unity government. - October 4, 2024
