A LAWYER pleaded not guilty in the Ipoh magistrate's court today to hurting a woman in a dispute over a parking spot at the  Aeon Kinta City on Feb 18 at about 6.46pm.

Goh Suan Poi,72, claimed trial before Magistrate Evangelin Simon Silvaraj.

According to reports Goh had voluntarily caused hurt to Ashvinder Kaur, 35, at the parking area and was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code which provides imprisonment for up to a year or a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both, if found guilty.

Deputy public prosecutor Monisha Pandey requested for bail to be set at RM1,000 in one surety.

Khairil Azwar Khalil, representing Goh, asked for a lower bail, citing that his client is a former teacher who served from 1976 to 1997 before switching to a legal career in 1998.

He also told the court that Goh had cooperated fully with the police throughout the investigation.

Evangelin fixed bail at RM500 with one surety and set Nov 11 as the next mention date. - October 8, 2024
