THE daughter of former Al-Arqam leader Ashaari Muhammad, Ummu Atiyah claims she was a victim of violence and rape by a leader of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB)..

According to Sinar Harian, she said the incident occurred when she was forced to marry a GISB leader in 2015.

She also alleged that the leader was abetted by her own siblings.

The 41-year-old said the incident occurred after the leader wanted to force her into marrying him, claiming that the order came from the Prophet and her late father, known as Abuya among his followers.

"At that time, I refused as I didn't want to marry him because he was old and overweight, and I was disgusted by him.

"After receiving that WhatsApp message, I ran to my friend's house in Jordan... then he and his followers came and demanded I turn myself in. They caused a commotion until 2 am," she said.

She said at the time, she had already been married before and had a child, although the child was taken away from her.

"I was forced to surrender and was asked to shake hands with the man as a sign of agreeing to marry him,".

However, she claimed she refused to perform this act.

She said that when she did so, she was abused for refusing the GISBH leader's demands until she was raped.

"I was burned with a lighter and submerged in a pool. My younger brother, a follower of the leader, asked her to remove her clothes to show the individual.

"Because I was scared of dying from being submerged for over an hour, I gasped as I had swallowed a lot of water, my chest hurt, and I was forced to say yes," she said.

According to reports, another GISBH victim, known only as Dalila Diyana, claimed that her two siblings were also victims of abuse and sexual assault.

She said that her brothers had been sodomised at a GISBH care centre and were also burned with a hot spoon.

Recently, government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said 662 children rescued from care homes linked to GISB have been issued court orders placing them under the protection of the authorities.

He said the Cabinet was informed of the latest developments by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri during today's Cabinet meeting. - October 19, 2024
