SIX secondary school students were rushed to hospital after the van they were in plunged into a ravine in Kampung Pengkalan Tebang, Bau in southern Sarawak.

The students were on their way to Sekolah Menengah Lake, Bau when the incident occurred at 7.30 am.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said they received a distress call about 7.51 am and seven personnel rushed to the scene.

“As soon as the team reached the location, about 18km away, it found that the van had plunged into a ravine and overturned.

"There were three girls and three boys inside the van with the driver identified as Alim Ahhow, 52.

"Members of the public managed to get them out and rushed them to nearby Klinik Kesihatan Krokong Bau and to Bau Hospital,” said the department.

The cause of the incident is under investigation. - November 6, 2024
