A PREGNANT woman who was rescued by firemen from a flooded longhouse in Kapit, Sarawak successfully delivered a baby girl soon after at the Kapit Hospital.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that both mother and baby were doing fine.

The rescue took place at longhouse Rumah Engking deep in central Sarawak after the longhouse was inundated by up to three metres of water.

The woman was identified as a 26-year-old native resident and the baby is her sixth child, the department said.

Kapit district has been hit by heavy torrential rains since last night.

This resulted in widespread floods and landslides. - November 27, 2024
