SABAH UMNO Youth has urged Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to resign following allegations of abuse of power and corruption tied to Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd.

Its chief, Sufian Abd Karim, said Hajiji’s resignation is necessary to facilitate an independent and transparent investigation into the company’s operations.

He also called for the findings of the investigation to be made public to restore confidence in the state administration.

Sufian said viral videos alleging misconduct have raised serious concerns about the misuse of state resources, potentially causing significant losses to the people of Sabah.

“Sabah’s wealth belongs to its people, not a select few,” he said, warning that public silence on the matter is no longer acceptable.

Allegations of corruption within the ruling GRS administration appear to have hit its highest level when a video implicating Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun in the case was uploaded yesterday.

Masidi who is Sabah Finance Minister cum Gagasan Rakyat number two denied the allegations but the matter has put Hajiji’s administration in the spotlight.

Masidi had voluntarily given his statement to the MACC last night.

The controversy stems from accusations surrounding the issuance of mining and prospecting licenses by Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd.

The state government has since filed reports with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the police, alleging misconduct by the company’s former CEO, Jontih Enggihon.

The MACC has summoned five state assemblymen to provide statements as part of its investigation into the alleged scandal.
