SARAWAK United People’s Party (SUPP) president Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian has claimed that there are certain politicians within the ruling state Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) who are "termites".

"These politicians had once contested against us (SUPP) during the times of Sarawak Barisan Nasional.

"They claimed to be BN-friendly but they fought against us in the state election. They are now in the GPS and we must be wary of these people.

"They are like termites who are out for their interest and they may ‘infect’ GPS," Dr Sim said during the closing dinner of the SUPP triennial delegates conference in Kuching.

Dr Sim did not specifically name these people whom he claimed are ‘termites’ in GPS.

SUPP is a member of the GPS.

The other coalition members are Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu, Parti Rakyat Sarawak and the Progressive Democratic Party.

On Dec 7, Dr Sim and Secretary General Datuk Sebastian Ting were returned unopposed along with the other SUPP top brass during the party election.

Ting said there was no challenge for the post of president, secretary general, two deputy presidents and treasurer posts during the triennial party conference.

This means that Dr Sim and Ting will lead SUPP into the coming state elections due in 2026 as they will lead the party for the 2024-2027 term.

Dr Sim is the deputy premier while Ting is the deputy state minister of tourism, culture and creative talents. - December 9, 2024
