DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng has accused PAS of playing a dangerous political game by pressing ahead with a pro-Najib (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) rally on Monday despite the King of Malaysia's statement regarding applications for pardon or reduction of sentence for prisoners.
He said it was PAS who dared to disobey and defy a royal decree unlike DAP, which abided by a Royal command for it to join the national unity government despite its staunch foe - Umno being part of it.
Taking to social media, Lim posted PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan’s announcement to press ahead with the pro-Najib rally outside the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya despite Umno’s decision to back out.
"PAS is irresponsible, unprincipled, hypocritical and opportunistic in deciding to proceed with the rally despite a royal decree from Istana Negara and a warning from the inspector-general of police not to attend the rally."
Lim said that only a disciple of “Squid Games” will dare to disobey and defy a royal command followed by a warning from the police.
"Unlike PAS which dares to disobey and defy a royal decree, DAP has chosen to abide by the royal command to form a unity government."
If DAP had chosen not to do so, then DAP could be accused of disrespecting the Malay Rulers and subjected to racial profiling.
Contrary to PAS which is greedy for power in its own right, DAP is willing to share power as commanded by the King, said Lim.
"For those who say that my time is over, only DAP members and the people have the right to decide.
“On March 16 at our party National Congress, DAP members will vote and decide whether they agree with DAP opponents and PAS that my time is over.
"In contrast to PAS, I will never take the people’s support for granted despite increasing my majority in the Bagan Parliamentary seat from 22,070 votes in the 2008 general election to 49,648 in the 2022 general election," added Lim. - January 4, 2025.
