SABAH Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has condemned opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin for allegedly calling Sabahans “palui” (fools) during a recent event.

Hajiji said the remark insulted Sabahans and their leaders, calling it inappropriate and disrespectful.

“I want to tell Hamzah Zainuddin, do not insult Sabahans or Sabah leaders,” Hajiji said.

He said Sabah’s unique political culture of harmony and mutual respect, contrasted with the peninsula.

“If you want to bring hostility and insults, keep them in the peninsula. Don’t bring them here,” he added.

Hamzah’s criticism comes after Hajiji and GRS leaders left Bersatu to form Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah in 2022.

Hamzah accused GRS leaders of betraying voters’ trust and being opportunists with their local party claims.

Hajiji avoided addressing these claims, instead focusing on GRS’s mission to unite Sabahans.

“GRS is about uniting Sabah’s diverse communities and delivering progress—not divisive politics,” he said.

A police report was lodged over Hamzah’s alleged remarks, though a viral video of the speech was edited.

Hajiji expressed confidence in GRS’s strength, saying the coalition’s eight local parties will ensure success.

“With our track record and unity, I am confident we will win the next state election and deliver for Sabah,” he said. - January 24, 2025.
