IN preparation for the upcoming month of Ramadan, the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency has been allocated a sum of RM40,000 to support 40 suraus in the area.

Each surau will receive RM1,000 to assist with organising "moreh" activities during the fasting month.

Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai Fahmi Fadzil expressed his hopes that this Ramadan would be more meaningful and impactful for everyone.

Earlier, Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, announced the nationwide expansion of the Akademi ASAS Penerangan (ASAS) programme, aimed at empowering the MADANI Community.

“The programme, which focuses on improving communication and countering misinformation, will receive special funding to enhance its ground-level operations.

“The initiative, which was launched to fight fake news and bring citizens closer to the MADANI government, will initially roll out in Sabah, followed by Sarawak and the East Coast,” he told Bernama.

A total of 1,878 MADANI Communities have been identified to participate in the initiative, he explained

Fahmi added, the ASAS programme would work alongside the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) online safety campaign.

This joint effort aims to raise awareness of digital threats, such as cyberbullying, and will target 10,000 schools and public universities.

It will also involve the MADANI Community in delivering online safety education to the broader public.

The ASAS programme will include various training modules, focusing on the latest technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and video editing, to equip participants with the skills to communicate effectively and deliver accurate information. – February 24, 2025
