SEVENTY candidates will vie for 30 DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) posts in the party's upcoming polls on March 16, said party national organising secretary Steven Sim.

According to the candidate list that Sim released, most CEC members will be seeking re-election.

"A total 4,203 delegates from 1,650 branches will participate in the polls which is part of DAP's 18th National Congress.

"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would attend the congress," he told a press conference.

He said the CEC election will be conducted and monitored by an independent third party.

“We are therefore confident that the election will be conducted in a clean, fair and transparent manner,” he said.

Sim said some of the candidates had voluntarily withdrawn, which include party veterans Tan Kok Wai, Fong Kui Lun, M Kulasegaran, and Phee Boon Poh.

The party’s National Congress will take place at the Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam. - March 3, 2025
