THE SARAWAK General Operations Force (GOF) seized RM14.7 million worth of e-waste weighing a total 525.45 tonnes in Kuching, yesterday.

Sarawak Brigade Commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang the seizure was part of 'Op Hazard Sarawak' and conducted with the Department of Environment and Padawan Municipal Council.

This is the second operation to crack down on premises processing electronic waste without a permit.

A total nine individuals, including a woman and foreigner aged between 26 and 55 were arrested during the three raids.

The GOF also seized three shipping containers, three heavy vehicles and other machinery.

From January to March 17 this year, the GoF Sarawak Brigade has recorded seizures totalling RM197.3 million.

A total 186 people were arrested, including 137 locals and 49 foreigners. - March 18, 2025
