FORMER prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has completed providing his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and is expected to return again tomorrow.

This marks his fifth day of questioning as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption and money laundering, in which he is a suspect.

The Bera member of Parliament spent around six hours at the MACC headquarters before leaving at 4.35pm.

The Bera Member of Parliament arrived at 9.57am in a black Toyota Vellfire.

It was earlier reported that the ninth prime minister is expected to be present at MACC till the anti-graft agency has enough evidence to wrap up his corruption and money laundering investigation.

A source revealed that the discovery of an unusually large sum of cash had prompted a more extensive review of the documents.

"This is one of the reasons why Ismail Sabri has been summoned for questioning over several days, as MACC officers need to examine hundreds of documents as part of the investigation. Among them are the asset declarations he recently submitted to MACC," said a source.

The probe is being conducted under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. – March 19, 2025
