FORMER Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, along with his wife and three children, have been ordered by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to declare their respective assets within a month.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman stated that the notice, issued under Section 38 of the MACC Act 2009, would be served to them in person next Monday.
"Saravanan and his family have been informed of this matter, and he, his wife, and two of his children will appear at the MACC headquarters on Monday morning.
"Another of his children will do so in November as the child is still studying in London," he told a press conference.
The notices are issued under Section 36 of the AMLA, and they will be given 30 days to declare their assets.
“If they require more time, an extension may be granted,” Abd Halim said.
Saravanan had previously pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court to three charges of accepting bribes totalling RM1.097 million four years ago.
The bribes served as an inducement for him—then the Minister of Human Resources—to approve an application for a quota of 1,000 foreign workers for the company TYKB Engineering Sdn Bhd.
Meanwhile, Abd Halim said the MACC had yet to receive an asset declaration from former Lembaga Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Azeez Abdul Rahim and his family members as they were still within the one-month period.
He said the notices requiring them to declare their assets were issued under Section 49 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA). - September 25, 2026
