POLICE have not ruled out the possibility of criminal or negligent factors in the gas pipeline leak and subsequent fire in Putra Heights last Tuesday, according to Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, the Inspector-General of Police.

However, he clarified that the ongoing investigation will consider not only human actions but also technical aspects of the incident.

“There are many aspects of negligence involved. It’s not just human negligence; if there were ground shifts, high pressure in the pipeline, and other factors, all of these will be considered,” he told the media today.

Razarudin also mentioned that over 10 agencies are involved in assessing the situation at the site to ensure the safety of the area. “We do not know the strength of the soil here, and we are concerned about potential land subsidence. This is very important for safety, as we do not want any further injuries,” he added.

Earlier today, Razarudin had received a briefing that lasted nearly two hours, where he was updated on the current situation at Ground Zero. The explosion, which took place last Tuesday, resulted in a major fire caused by a gas pipeline rupture near the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) leading to Putra Heights.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that the fire involved a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) pipeline located on Jalan Putra Harmoni in Putra Heights. – April 7, 2025
