THE husband of missing Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh was arrested early today in the capital to assist investigations into her disappearance last month.
City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said he was apprehended in the early hours of the morning, though the remand application filed in Putrajaya was subsequently rejected.
“The individual, who is the husband of the missing woman, was arrested in Kuala Lumpur early this morning,” Sinar Harian cited him saying in a statement.
“The arrest was made to assist the investigation into the disappearance of Pamela. However, we will not be providing further details at this stage as investigations are ongoing.”
Police had previously confirmed that the man was under scrutiny and potentially among the list of suspects in the high-profile case.
Pamela was reported missing on April 9 after allegedly boarding an e-hailing vehicle from her residence in Cheras to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya.
According to earlier police briefings, a group of eight individuals – including a woman – are believed to have impersonated police officers and escorted her into a vehicle. The case is being investigated under Section 365 of the Penal Code, which pertains to abduction or wrongful confinement.
Rusdi also noted that 27 individuals have so far had their statements recorded as part of the probe. Authorities are also working closely with Interpol and enforcement agencies in Singapore to obtain statements from the victim’s two children, believed to be overseas.
The investigation continues to draw public and media attention due to the mysterious nature of Pamela’s disappearance and the involvement of individuals allegedly posing as law enforcement. - May 15, 2025
