AUTHORITIES are investigating the death of a 63-year-old Taiwanese man who was fatally struck by a Light Rail Transit (LRT) train after reportedly falling onto the tracks at the Pusat Bandar Puchong station in Selangor.

According to Serdang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad, initial investigations confirmed that the man entered Malaysia on 31 May.

“Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage shows the victim walking alone before falling onto the tracks,” said Farid in a statement issued on Wednesday. “Police are in the process of contacting the victim’s family through the Taiwanese embassy.”

The fatal incident, which took place late Tuesday afternoon, was first reported by Harian Metro.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, stated that the emergency services were alerted at 6.05pm.

“A fire engine and rescue team from the Subang Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene, where they found an unconscious man beneath the LRT train,” he said.

“The operations commander reported that a 63-year-old male was located under the LRT carriage in an unresponsive state and was believed to have died at the scene,” he added.

The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of accidental death pending further inquiry. - June 4, 2025
