PARTI Bangsa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) has proposed that opposition parties in the state come together to form a bloc.
PBDS president Moses Ripai today said the opposition bloc is needed soonest due to the looming Sarawak elections due by the middle of next year.
"The opposition parties in Sarawak need to unite under one common platform if we are to have any chance to create an impact against the ruling state government in the coming state elections.
"The opposition front now in Sarawak is still fragmented and we cannot create a major upset against the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak.
"PBDS is willing to meet all opposition parties and work towards one united bloc to offer voters a clear choice," he said in a statement.
Moses said PBDS is already going to the ground to try and unite the Dayak grassroot.
Out of the three million population in Sarawak, some 60 percent are from the Dayaks ethnic communities.
On June 11, it was reported that PBDS is drafting a Dayak political unity blueprint in an effort to unite the diverse Dayak community organisations ahead of the coming Sarawak state elections.
PBDS permanent chairman Dr John Brian Anthony said the blueprint will be promoted far and wide among the Dayak native communities throughout Sarawak. – June 18, 2025
