INSPECTOR-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has donated RM5,000 to the Tabung Amanah Warisan Polis (TAWP), using funds awarded to him in court following committal proceedings against blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, widely known as Papagomo.
In a statement today, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) said a mock cheque was handed over to Bukit Aman Management Director Datuk Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid – a permanent member of TAWP – during a brief ceremony at the IGP's office.
This marks Razarudin’s second contribution to the fund, having previously donated RM10,000 in February. His total personal contributions to date now stand at RM15,000.
“This contribution reflects my support for TAWP’s welfare initiatives to assist police officers, personnel and their children in need,” said Razarudin.
“Funds like this are essential in easing the financial burden of those in need, especially within the police community.”
On 30 April, Papagomo issued an unconditional apology in court over defamatory remarks made earlier this year about the IGP. Judicial Commissioner Gan Techiong ordered the apology to be published on YouTube, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and Telegram for at least seven days. Papagomo was also instructed to pay RM5,000 in costs.
This followed a court ruling in February allowing Razarudin to initiate contempt proceedings after Papagomo allegedly breached a court injunction dated 10 January.
The injunction barred him from making or disseminating defamatory statements against the IGP, in any capacity, through any medium including messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram.
Though contempt proceedings were initially scheduled, the court advised both parties to reach a settlement, resulting in the public apology and the purging of the contempt.
The case originated from a RM3 million defamation suit filed by Razarudin in December 2023, which also involved defamatory content referencing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. - June 18, 2025
