TWENTY-five passengers endured a harrowing moment on Saturday evening when the bus they were travelling in skidded and crashed into a roadside barrier at Kilometre 12 on the downhill route from Genting Highlands.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 7.45pm, left the 54-year-old driver and two female passengers—one aged 74 and the other a 75-year-old foreign national—with minor injuries.
Bentong District Police Chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, said preliminary investigations revealed that the bus was en route from Genting Highlands to Serdang when the accident occurred.
“Upon reaching a bend at the scene, the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off course and collide with the roadside barrier,” he said in a statement issued on Sunday.
He added, “The driver and two passengers sustained light injuries and were taken to Bentong Hospital for treatment. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.”
Superintendent Zaiham also urged all road users to remain vigilant, especially when driving in hilly areas, and to ensure that their vehicles are well-maintained at all times. - June 22, 2025
