TOH PUAN Na’imah Khalid's lawyers today said a decision by the police and Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) to issue a No Further Action (NFA) notice in response to the police report filed by Naimah on September 30, 2024 was unacceptable, outrageous and contrary to good governance and the rule of law.
The report was made on the Bloomberg News exposé implicating Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki in concerted abuse of investigative powers.
The article alleged that the MACC probes were politically motivated, targeting Na’imah Khalid's husband, the late Tun Daim Zainuddin.
"The sudden NFA decision was informed to us through a letter received on June 21, 2025, from the Sentul police chief.
"For nine months, the police and the AGC kept quiet over Naimah’s police report.
"This NFA decision comes just days after Naimah lodged a complaint with the IPCC on the long failure to take action on her police report,” Rajesh Nagarajan and Sachpreetraj Singh Sohanpal said in a statement.
They claim that no details have been given of who was questioned, what steps were taken or what were the reasons for the NFA.
"Was Anwar Ibrahim questioned? Was Azam Baki questioned? Was the investigation fair, thorough and impartial?" they asked.
Despite the serious public interest implications of these allegations, the police and AGC have chosen to quietly close the case with no explanation, and no accountability, they said.
"This decision reflects badly upon the police and AGC and confirms the erosion of institutional independence under the Madani administration.
"We will not be silenced or deflected from our pursuit of justice. The matter will be pursued until the truth is revealed and right is done. Malaysians deserve institutions that serve the public, not those in power," they added. - June 23, 2025
