THE Ministry of Transport will allocate an additional 10,000 MyLesen (B2) motorcycle licence slots nationwide this year, as part of a RM3.5 million initiative aimed at reducing the number of unlicensed riders on the road.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the move not only expands opportunities for youth to obtain a valid licence, but also supports wider efforts to address one of the key causes of road accidents in Malaysia.

“For 2025, a total of 15,000 quotas were allocated under the MyLesen programme, with 14,581 participants successfully enrolled. For the second half of the year, we are adding 10,000 more quotas across the country under this MOT initiative,” he said during the Negeri Sembilan-level MyLesen (B2) Licence Presentation Ceremony on Thursday.

Loke, who is also the MP for Seremban, confirmed that 1,000 of the new quotas will be reserved specifically for Negeri Sembilan.

He voiced support for revoking licences issued under the programme should recipients be found engaging in illegal activities such as street racing.

The Minister also urged schools to play a proactive role in ensuring students who ride motorcycles to school have valid licences.

“We are aware that some students, especially in rural areas, ride motorcycles without a licence. This is why we need cooperation from schools, particularly state education departments, to monitor and ensure students commuting by motorcycle have legal documentation,” he said. - July 10, 2025
