THE driver of a four-wheel drive vehicle caught on video dangerously weaving between traffic on the Selat Klang Highway has told police he was rushing to assist his mother, who had suffered a fall at home.

According to Klang Utara police chief ACP S. Vijaya Rao, the 29-year-old man presented himself at the Klang Utara District Police Headquarters at around 10pm on Friday, accompanied by his lawyer, to provide a statement regarding the incident.

“Based on his statement, the suspect said he was heading to his mother’s house to take her to the hospital after she fell at home,” said Vijaya Rao in a statement issued Saturday.

The man was taken into custody at 1.30am for a urine test, which returned negative for drug use, and was released on police bail at 3am.

Police have since reclassified the case under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to reckless or dangerous driving.

Earlier, the man was being sought by authorities after a video of the incident, which showed the vehicle attempting to force its way between two cars while allegedly threatening other drivers, went viral on social media. - July 20, 2025
