MALAYSIA’S involvement in facilitating peace talks and a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia was among the main topics discussed in the Dewan Rakyat today.

According to the Order Paper published on the Parliament’s portal, the matter was raised by Rodiyah Sapiee (GPS–Batang Sadong) during the Minister’s Question Time, directed at Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

At the same session, Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (PN–Kuala Kangsar) sought clarification from the Prime Minister on whether the MADANI Government is managing the country’s debt responsibly.

In the Question and Answer segment, Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis (Warisan–Kota Belud) posed a question to the Foreign Minister regarding a proposed joint development with Indonesia in the ND 6 and ND 7 Ambalat blocks.

She further inquired whether the approach would mirror that of the Malaysia–Thailand Joint Development Authority (MTJDA), or take another form, emphasising the importance of safeguarding the rights of Sabah and Sarawak under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Elsewhere, Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (PN–Besut) requested an update from the Prime Minister on the outcome of recent stakeholder engagement sessions concerning the establishment of the Malaysian Ombudsman, and what measures would be taken to accelerate its implementation.

Jimmy Puah Wee Tse (PH–Tebrau) questioned the Defence Minister on whether the ministry has any plans to integrate unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology into the nation’s air defence systems.

The parliamentary sitting resumed later with debates on the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), which was tabled by Prime Minister Anwar last Thursday.

This session of the Dewan Rakyat runs for 24 days, concluding on 28 August. - August 5, 2025
