A PRESCHOOL pupil who fell and suffered a serious head injury during an after-school event preparation has undergone a seven-hour operation and is currently in stable condition, authorities confirmed.
According to Johor's Chairperson of the Committee on Women, Family and Community Development, Khairin-Nisa Ismail, the child underwent surgery on Tuesday to relieve bleeding in the brain.
“The child was reported to have fallen at the school’s assembly area on Monday evening,” she said in a statement to the media.
“It is understood that the incident occurred at 6.45pm while she was accompanying her mother, who was preparing the stage for the school’s birthday celebration programme.
“While playing with her peers, the child fell.
“The situation appeared normal without visible external injuries until later that night, but at around 2am the following morning, she was found unconscious.
“She was then taken to Mersing Hospital before being transferred to Sultanah Aminah Hospital, where surgery was performed to remove the bleeding in her head,” Khairin-Nisa added.
On Tuesday, the girl’s mother, Zalinda Lin, appealed to the public for prayers for her daughter, Aisyah Sofia Rohaizan, who was said to be fighting for her life due to complications believed to have resulted from being pushed by a classmate. - August 15, 2025
