POLICE are tracking down the individual responsible for sending threatening messages to the wife of former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, following the recent assault on the couple’s 12-year-old son at a shopping centre in Putrajaya.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that Rafizi’s wife lodged a police report on Thursday.

“In response, police will collaborate with several relevant agencies to trace the owner of the phone number concerned,” he said on Friday.

“The investigation for this case is being conducted under Section 507 of the Penal Code,” he added.

Shazeli also said police had recorded a statement from the doctor who treated the victim, in order to assist with the investigation.

Earlier, during a press conference on Thursday, Shazeli urged Rafizi to file an official report regarding the alleged threats received by his wife, stating it would allow police to take appropriate follow-up action.

Rafizi had previously revealed that his wife received two threatening messages, one at 1:12am and another at 11:02am.

According to *Sinar Harian*, six individuals have so far been questioned in connection with the incident, which occurred at 2pm at a shopping mall in Putrajaya.

During the incident, Rafizi’s son was reportedly attacked by two individuals on a motorcycle and injected with a syringe containing an unknown liquid. - August 15, 2025
