AN elderly man, suffering from stage four colon cancer, was found dead with a gunshot wound to his chest at his residence in Lorong Jelapang 13, Jelapang, on Friday.

According to Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, initial investigations revealed that the 75-year-old victim had shot himself with a shotgun.

Police were alerted to the incident at 11:35 a.m. Upon arrival, the investigation team found the victim lying motionless on a wooden chair outside his house.

"The victim was pronounced dead by a medical officer from Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) at 12 noon," he said.

"Preliminary checks at the scene found no criminal elements, and the case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR)," he added.

Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the victim, who had been living with his wife, eldest son, daughter-in-law, and a grandchild, was alone at home when the incident occurred.
