THE Criminal Investigation Department at Bukit Aman has taken over the case involving the assault on the son of former Economy Minister and Pandan MP, Datuk Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli.

Selangor Police Chief, Commissioner Datuk Shazeli Kahar, said the decision was made to facilitate “a more comprehensive and centralised investigation.”

“Members of the public with any information related to this case are urged to come forward and provide it to the nearest police station to assist with the investigation,” he said in a statement released on Sunday.

“Community cooperation is greatly appreciated to ensure justice and transparency in the investigation process,” he added.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 2pm on Wednesday, was initially reported by *Sinar Harian*. The 12-year-old boy was allegedly attacked by two individuals on a motorcycle at the passenger pick-up and drop-off area of a shopping centre.

Rafizi later issued a statement saying the attackers were dressed entirely in black and wore full-face helmets. According to him, the assailants dragged his son and injected him with a syringe at the scene.

The assault reportedly happened as Rafizi, his wife, and their son were about to enter their car to leave the shopping mall. - August 17, 2025
