BULLYING must be eradicated entirely and treated as a top priority within the school system, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has said, calling on school administrators to treat the issue as a key performance indicator (KPI).

In a Facebook post on Sunday following her visit to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Dr Burhanuddin in Taiping on Saturday, Fadhlina pledged to reward the school with a special incentive if it successfully records zero bullying incidents.

"Bullying misconduct must be fought to the end. It must be made a key performance indicator by school administrators," she wrote.

"I promise to give a special incentive if this school (SMK Dr Burhanuddin) successfully records 'zero bullying'."

Describing her visit to the school as brief but meaningful, Fadhlina said it was her first time stepping into SMK Dr Burhanuddin, and she was warmly welcomed by both students and teachers.

She also encouraged students to continue striving to improve their academic performance, noting that the school had shown encouraging progress in recent years but still had room for further improvement.

During her visit, Fadhlina also announced an allocation of RM100,000 to SMK Dr Burhanuddin.

"It is specifically for the purpose of improving infrastructure and maintaining facilities for the comfort of students, teachers, and the entire school community," she said. - August 18, 2025
