THE Ministry of Finance has announced a reduction in the retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia by five sen per litre. Effective from 21 August to 27 August 2025, diesel will be priced at RM2.85 per litre, in line with current fluctuations in global oil markets.

“In line with the fluctuations in global oil prices, the Government has agreed to reduce the retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia by 5 sen to RM2.85 per litre from 21 August 2025 to 27 August 2025,” said the ministry in a statement today.

The adjustment was made under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), which ensures weekly updates of fuel prices based on market trends while supporting price stability.

According to the ministry, the retail prices of petroleum products for the same period are as follows: the retail price of RON97 petrol remains unchanged at RM3.13 per litre; the retail price of RON95 petrol remains unchanged at RM2.05 per litre; the retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia is reduced by five sen to RM2.85 per litre; and the retail price of diesel in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan remains unchanged at RM2.15 per litre.

“The Government will continue to monitor global oil price trends and take appropriate measures to safeguard the welfare and well-being of the people,” the statement added. - August 20, 2025
