THE Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) confirmed that an F/A-18D Hornet fighter jet was involved in an accident at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport tonight.
The RMAF Public Relations Division in a statement said the accident occurred at 9.05pm while the aircraft was on the airbase's runway.

"The Royal Malaysian Air Force is currently taking immediate action and will provide updates on the current developments regarding the accident."
"All parties are requested not to spread any speculation or unverified news," the statement said.

So far, the RMAF has not confirmed whether there were any injuries or loss of life in the incident.
In a latest update, the two pilots are reportedly being treated at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) in Kuantan.
They were taken by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) ambulance to the HTAA Emergency and Trauma Department for further treatment.
A check revealed that several military personnel were also at the hospital monitoring the condition of the personnel involved.
The identity and status of the personnel are not yet known. – August 21, 2025
