A LOCAL factory operator was killed after being struck by a forklift driven by a foreign worker in an industrial incident that occurred around 9.45pm last night in Beranang, Selangor.

The Selangor Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH or JKKP) confirmed receiving a report of the incident and deployed officers to the scene to begin investigations.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was an operator. CCTV footage shows him walking across a road within the factory premises when a forklift, driven by a non-citizen worker, turned sharply at a corner and hit the victim,” JKKP Selangor said in a statement today.

The forklift driver reportedly only realised the collision after the impact. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Hospital Serdang.

Following the incident, JKKP Selangor issued a stop-work directive at the site to preserve the scene and facilitate the ongoing investigation.

“A notice was also issued to the employer for failing to implement safe work procedures relating to forklift operations,” the department added.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 15(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, which pertains to the general duty of employers to ensure the safety, health and welfare of their employees. - August 23, 2025
