TWENTY-five passengers endured a harrowing experience when the express bus they were travelling in collided with a trailer at Kilometre 152.4 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS), southbound, on Saturday morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) was alerted to the incident at 11.24am and promptly dispatched one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit from the Bukit Gambir Fire and Rescue Station.

Commander of Operations, Senior Fire Superintendent II (Special Appointment) Kaib Dawan, confirmed that eight firefighters were deployed to the scene, located approximately 18 kilometres away.

“Upon arrival at 11.43am, it was found that the accident involved an express bus carrying 26 people, including the driver, and a trailer,” he said in a statement.

Firefighters assisted in opening the bus doors to safely evacuate the passengers. “There were no victims trapped in the wreckage, but two passengers sustained minor injuries,” Kaib added.

The trailer driver and his assistant escaped unharmed.

Medical officers on site, supported by the EMRS team, provided immediate treatment to the injured passengers. The operation concluded at 12.20pm. - August 23, 2025
