A 16-YEAR-OLD student was killed while another man sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident at Kilometre 1.2 of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) near here at approximately 2.30am on Sunday.

According to Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, the teenager, a Form Four student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Meru, was riding a Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle from Shah Alam towards Klang when he is believed to have lost control and skidded into the middle lane.

“A 22-year-old male delivery rider who happened to be passing the same stretch stopped to assist the fallen rider,” he said.

However, a vehicle — which has yet to be identified — then struck both motorcyclists before fleeing the scene.

“As a result of the collision, the student died at the scene. The delivery rider suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to Shah Alam Hospital’s emergency red zone for further treatment,” Mohd Iqbal added in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Police are urging any witnesses or members of the public with information to come forward and contact Inspector Nur Iqmal Maisarah Azman of the Shah Alam District Police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at 017-2836851. - August 24, 2025
