TWO local security guards have been arrested for impersonating police officers and allegedly extorting a couple in Kota Masai last Thursday.

Seri Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak, confirmed that the suspects, both aged 29, had confronted the couple while they were sitting in their vehicle, demanding RM2,000 in cash.

“The pair approached the couple under the pretence of being police officers and used this ruse to extort them. Both suspects have since been apprehended and remanded for seven days until 27 August,” he said.

Police investigations revealed that one of the suspects has four prior drug-related offences, while the other has a previous criminal record.

The case remains under active investigation. - August 24, 2025
