POLICE are finalising their investigation papers following the arrest of the child of a former national leader after a quantity of drugs was found in a vehicle on the Sprint Highway on 23 August.

Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar, confirmed that the case is still under active investigation.

“The investigation is ongoing,” he said briefly when contacted today.

Local media previously reported that the individual, believed to be a son of a former prime minister,  was detained after police discovered drugs inside a luxury car during a crime prevention operation conducted by the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) in the Damansara area.

According to sources, a quantity of heroin was found alongside several items believed to be associated with drug use.

It is understood that the suspect, who is in his twenties, also has a prior criminal record relating to drug offences. - August 26, 2025
