A STIRRING re-enactment featuring Malaysia’s frontline enforcement agencies tackling a mock disturbance involving foreign nationals captivated tens of thousands at the Negeri Sembilan state-level National Day celebrations on Sunday.
The dramatized segment, inspired by Commander of the 1st Malaysian Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Zamri Othman, and creatively directed by Mohd Zuhairi Ibrahim of the Negeri Sembilan Department for Culture and Arts (JKKNS), was one of the main highlights of the celebration held at the Seremban City Council Field.
The sketch portrayed a coordinated operation by the Malaysian Armed Forces, Royal Malaysia Police, Immigration Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force, medical personnel and local authorities – a demonstration of the “Whole of Government and Whole of Society” (WoGoS) approach in safeguarding national peace and security.
“This was not merely a performance,” said an official from JKKNS. “It was a message: our national frontliners are ready to act swiftly and collectively to protect the rakyat.”
The segment also featured an ensemble of cultural dance performances by JKKNS, the Kelab Bimbingan Seni Cemerlang, JKKN’s Kumpulan Satelit, Soka Gakkai, Shreevar Uniqarts Conservatory, and the Nogori Arts School. Guest artistes including Datuk Tamimi Siregar, Didi Astillah and Cat Farish added star power to the event.
The celebration drew an estimated crowd of 30,000 and was graced by the presence of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, and the Tunku Ampuan Besar, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud.
The event opened with the singing of Negeri Sembilan’s state anthem, followed by an inspection of the Guard of Honour by Tuanku Muhriz, a prayer recital by State Mufti Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Yusof Ahmad, and a spirited reading of the Rukun Negara pledge by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, accompanied by five ceremonial cannon salutes representing the five principles of the national philosophy.
The 68th Merdeka Day parade featured over 80 contingents comprising 5,000 participants from government departments, statutory bodies, NGOs, district offices, schools, universities, and private corporations.
The Guard of Honour was formed by three officers and 103 enlisted personnel from the 15th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD), based at Kem Senawang. The contingent was led by Major Muhammad Hazim Abdul Ghalib, with Ensign Adam Bachtiar Ibrahim serving as Colour Officer, and Regimental Sergeant Major Warrant Officer I Muhd Azuwan Aziz.
Their ceremonial march was accompanied by a 32-member combined military band from 24 RAMD and the 2nd Armoured Regiment (2 KAD), under the baton of Warrant Officer II Azuan Zakaria. - August 31, 2025
