THE Government unveiled its first official energy literacy website as a centralised digital hub for trusted, accessible and practical information on energy use and sustainability.

The initiative aims to promote public understanding and responsible energy practices in line with the national goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The Malaysia Energy Literacy Programme (MELP) platform was officially launched on 2 September 2025 by Deputy Prime Minister II and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, during a ministerial townhall session with PETRA staff at Menara PETRA.

Designed to serve as the nation’s primary energy reference point, the MELP website offers a range of digital learning resources including articles, guides, infographics, videos and educational content aimed at cultivating a more energy-conscious society under the Malaysia MADANI vision.

“The MELP platform is a small yet significant step towards a sustainable energy future. It serves as a knowledge bridge that equips all levels of society with verified and practical information they can apply in everyday life,” said the Deputy Prime Minister II.

The development of MELP was led by the Energy Commission in collaboration with key strategic partners, including the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), MyPOWER Malaysia, Yayasan Hijau Malaysia, the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malakoff, NUR Power and Edra Energy.

The initiative is expected to enhance public understanding of the importance of energy, energy efficiency, electrical safety and the collective role of stakeholders in supporting Malaysia’s green transition.

PETRA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening energy literacy through MELP as an inclusive platform for awareness and knowledge-sharing.

With this online portal, the ministry hopes to bring energy sustainability messaging closer to the people, reinforcing the country’s sustainable socio-economic development agenda under the Malaysia MADANI framework.
