Woman's body found floating in Klang River, police classify case as sudden death

THE body of an Indonesian woman was discovered floating in the Klang River near an industrial area in USJ 1, Subang Jaya on Monday, with police launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police were alerted to the discovery by a member of the public at 12.58pm.

Initial investigations at the scene found the woman fully clothed, wearing a yellow jacket and light-coloured jeans. Her face was severely decomposed, while the skin on her hands and feet had peeled away.

A further examination uncovered a crossbody bag containing an Indonesian electronic identity card (e-KTP) and a photograph, confirming that the deceased was an Indonesian national.

The body has been sent to the Forensic Unit at Hospital Serdang for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Wan Azlan said the case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report (SDR) as investigators have, so far, found no indication of criminal elements.

Police have appealed to anyone with information relating to the incident or the possible identity of the deceased, including reports of missing family members, to contact the USJ 8 police station at 03-7862 7222 to assist with the investigation. - August 5, 2026
