THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained two individuals in connection with a special investigation launched to review and examine findings from the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).
The two suspects, comprising a company director and a former plantation manager, were arrested after they arrived at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to give statements.
The first suspect, a company director in his 50s, was detained at about 7.30pm on Monday after he was allegedly involved in a bribery case involving RM300,000 paid to a former chief operating officer (COO) of a statutory body.
The payment was allegedly made in exchange for securing projects worth a total of about RM8 million.
The alleged offence was believed to have taken place between 2014 and 2018, with the suspect accused of providing renovations to four houses owned by the former COO, with the total value estimated at RM300,000.
The second suspect, also in his 50s, is a former plantation manager of a company supplying rubber tree seedlings and was detained over alleged misappropriation involving contracts worth about RM8 million.
He is believed to have been involved in the alleged misuse of rubber seedling supply projects at two plantation companies, including a subsidiary of the statutory body, between 2015 and 2017.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests and said the first case was being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009, while the second case was being investigated under Section 18 of the same Act.
The Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday granted a two-day remand order for the company director, while the former plantation manager was remanded for three days to assist investigations. - August 4, 2026
