MORE households are set to benefit from cheaper essential goods under the government's expanded Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme (PJRM), with 35,000 sales events targeted nationwide next year following a RM750 million allocation under Budget 2027.

Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the allocation, shared between PJRM and Agro MADANI Sales, would enable the government to widen access to essential goods priced 10 to 30 per cent below prevailing market rates.

The expansion comes as the ministry steps up efforts to help households cope with festive spending, including through 103 Deepavali-themed PJRM events across Melaka from Oct 19 to Nov 15.

One of the sales events was held at Rumah Pangsa Lereh in Klebang today, ahead of Deepavali on Nov 8.

From Jan 1 to Sept 30, a total of 26,185 PJRM events were organised nationwide, generating 28.4 million transactions or beneficiaries.

These comprised 17,515 mobile sales, 7,830 sales at business premises and 840 outside business premises.

In Melaka, 1,195 events were held during the same period, including 884 mobile sales, recording 1.72 million transactions or beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, KPDN has introduced the Deepavali 2026 Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP), which will run from Nov 4 to 10 to prevent traders from taking advantage of increased demand.

The scheme covers 11 essential items, including two newly added products – coconut milk and potatoes from China.

Fuziah reminded traders to comply with price-control laws, adding that the ministry would continue monitoring the prices and supply of essential goods to protect consumers from unreasonable increases.

Wholesale and retail ceiling prices under the scheme can be checked on KPDN's official website at www\.kpdn.gov.my. - November 1, 2026
