NINE individuals, including a woman, have been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations into the discovery of a woman’s body found in a vehicle believed to belong to a man who shot and stabbed a police officer in Taman Desa Pakatan early Sunday morning.

The remand order, which runs until next Sunday, was issued by Magistrate Anis Hanini Abdullah after all nine suspects were brought to the Ipoh Magistrates’ Court earlier today.

The female suspect is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, while the eight male suspects are being remanded under Section 307 for attempted murder.

Police had earlier confirmed the arrest of six individuals — five men and one woman — who are believed to be family members of the main suspect.

In the incident which occurred around 1.15am on Sunday, a 26-year-old police constable was shot and stabbed by a man while attempting to stop a suspicious vehicle.

The suspect then fled the scene with the officer’s service pistol.

The attack subsequently led to the discovery of the body of an elderly woman inside a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) abandoned by the suspect near the scene.

A post-mortem revealed the cause of death to be due to asphyxiation or lack of oxygen.

Police are continuing investigations to determine the motive behind the incident and to establish the connection between the nine detained individuals and the primary suspect. - Sept 8, 2025
