MALAYSIA and Luxembourg have agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, finance and logistics, following official discussions in Putrajaya today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim welcomed Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, during a courtesy visit to his office.

“We are determined to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in trade, investment, finance and logistics,” Anwar said in a statement shared via Facebook.

The meeting also served as a platform for both leaders to exchange views on regional and international developments, including Malaysia’s role as Chair of ASEAN.

“We discussed the situation in the Middle East, particularly Palestine, and ways to enhance close cooperation through the framework of the European Union for the mutual benefit of both nations,” he added.

The visit by Bettel is seen as a step forward in expanding diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries, with both sides recognising the importance of multilateral cooperation amidst ongoing global uncertainties. - September 9, 2025
