POLICE have arrested a 41-year-old local man over a viral TikTok video alleged to contain seditious and insulting content directed at the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M Kumar said the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), through the Classified Crime Investigation Unit (USJT) under the D5 division, is investigating the video, which was posted via the account [@muhammad.bin.abdu969](https://www.tiktok.com/@muhammad.bin.abdu969).

“The video in question contains elements of sedition and insults towards the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

He added that the suspect, who has a prior criminal history involving one narcotics case and three criminal offences, was detained to assist in the ongoing investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 504 of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said.

Datuk Kumar stressed that PDRM will not compromise with any individual who misuses social media platforms to spread seditious, defamatory, or provocative statements that may disrupt public order or threaten national security.

“The public is advised to exercise greater responsibility when using social media and to always respect the laws in force,” he added. - September 13, 2025
