MIC joining PN: Nothing confirmed yet, says PAS
Any decision to accept MIC's entry into PN can only be decided at the highest level of PN - September 13, 2025

THE position of the Non-Muslim PAS Supporters Congress (DHPP) which has about 78,000 members, will not be affected if MIC is accepted as a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN).

PAS Deputy President, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, said that it is currently PN's practice to welcome the participation of any political party and non-governmental organisation (NGO) that is interested in joining the coalition.

He said that each participation is seen as being able to strengthen PN's position, especially ahead of the upcoming 16th General Election (GE16).

"There is no problem (with DHPP if MIC joins PN), we welcome all parties to be together. For us, even though PAS has DHPP, this is our child in PAS, so if MIC is accepted, they are just like the Malaysian Indian People's Party (MIPP) which has many members from the Indian community.

"For us, what is important is that they can sit down and discuss together so that we can formulate a joint action plan in the name of PN, so there will be no problems," he told a press conference after officiating the DHPP Convention here, today.

Also present were PAS Vice President, Datuk Idris Ahmad and DHPP Chief, Balasubramaniam Nachiappan.

Tuan Ibrahim said that the DHPP's role is important in PN because there are State Legislative Assembly (DUN) or Parliament constituencies that require candidates from among the Chinese or Indian communities.

However, any decision to accept MIC's entry into PN can only be decided at the highest level of PN which has not yet made any decision.

"There is no doubt that there are certain areas where we need to promote Indian and Chinese candidates in the name of PN. We welcome the wishes of any party or NGO to be together," he said.

He also informed that DHPP is actively conducting a campaign to increase its membership, which currently stands at 78,000 members by opening registration counters at external programs in addition to inviting registration online. – September 13, 2025
